Tests on behavior of prestressed hollow beams loaded with bending and twisting moments are reported; size and shape of hollow were varied, and effect of nominal torsional reinforcement investigated; it is shown that bending moments have beneficial effect on torsional behavior; it increases rotation and tensile-strain capacity of concrete which raises torsional resistance; torsional stresses reduce bending strength slightly; it is further shown that elastic theories of failure cannot explain adequately behavior and strength of concrete under all stress combinations; failure loads may be related to interaction curves.
