Amphitheatrical assembly hall has 122 m diam prestressed concrete folded shell roof cast in situ in forms supported by scaffolding; 6000-ton shell rests on border beam running around shell edge; vertical reactions are transmitted by this beam to 48 buttresses and finally to annular foundation slab; buttresses also support inverted truncated cone construction which constitutes seating area as well as arena.
