Accretion of beach sand behind detached breakwater
Problem of sand transport by longshore current is clarified by observing effect of breakwater on this current; samples were collected on network from beaches in vicinity of breakwater at Santa Monica, Calif; history of accretion indicates that shore line changes position in direction toward equilibrium with respect to forces acting on beach.
