Hardening gear-teeth by oxy-acetylene flame
Process pioneered in United States by W. E. Sykes of Farrel-Birmingham Co, Buffalo, whose machine for torch hardening of gear teeth is described; process consists of local heating by means of oxyacetylene burner followed by immediate quenching by water jet. (French abstract) (See also Engineering v 145 n 3776 May 27 1938 p 590-2)
