Internal stresses and their relation to Shore hardness test
It was established by experimental investigation using Schnadt's plastifying power that internal stresses differ in their effect on static and dynamic hardness; several conclusions were drawn, e.g., that, in converting Shore into Vickers or Rockwell hardness, state of stress of specimens must be taken into consideration, and that combined use of static and dynamic hardness testing may lead to nondestructive method of determining type-1 internal stresses. (see also English abstract in Engrs' Digest v 24 n 6 June 1963 p 80-3)
