Advantages and disadvantages of clear span parking and construction; cost problem can be alleviated by use of pretensioning which for spans up to 70 to 80 ft offers economic and other advantages over other forms of construction, provided construction is based on standard sections and adequate repetition; application of clear span parking is illustrated by Fairfield Car Park at Croydon, England; construction features of this project are described and standard layouts for clear span car parks of single, 2, 3 and 4 bays are included; structural details of floor slab and floor beams.
