Similitude study of flexible buried arches subjected to blast loads
Study to verify experimentally validity of scaling procedures for blast-loaded buried structures with length ratios up to 9; specific objectives were to develop scaling relations for geometrically scaled arches buried in dense, dry sand and loaded dynamically in elastic and inelastic ranges of response, to test four geometrically scaled arches buried in same soil and subjected to airblast-induced surface overpressures, and to verify scaling relations; four semicircular fixed-end arches with 4-, 8-, 12-, and 36-in. diam were buried and subjected to airblast-induced overpressures.
