Stability of structures with small imperfections
Theoretical and experimental investigation of effect of imperfections on buckling load of elastic structural system is described; theoretical analysis uses concept of generalized coordinates; theory indicates that small imperfections may have appreciable effect on critical load; experimental results confirm predicted theoretical behavior; experiments on model structures made of high strength steel to assure elastic behavior are examined.
