Spillway for Amistad Dam, Rio Grande, Mexico and United States
Results of tests conducted on 1:70-scale section model reproducing one-half of spillway for Amistad Dam; spillway consists of ogee crest controlled by 16 tainter gate, 50 ft wide and 54 ft high, and hydraulic jump type stilling basin; discharge characteristics of spillway, hydrostatic pressures on ogee weir crest, lateral pressures on gate piers, performance of both single- and double-stage stilling basins at various elevations, and height and length of both spray and stilling basin training walls were investigated.
