General properties of partly full circular conduits as applied to sewer design; effect of shape is shown to be significant and important in design of sewers of adequate carrying capacity; concept of optimum diameter of sewer is developed and relevance of criteria of self-scouring and carrying capacity is examined; design chart for solution of problems of general nature is presented, described and illustrated with practical examples. (See also n 703 Feb 1965 p 206-8)
