Placing 10-ft, diam. outfall pipe
Construction of ocean outfall sewer at Whites Point near San Pedro, Calif is described; when completed in 1966, 11,880 ft of concrete pipe will have been placed in depths up to 190 ft; pipe sections are placed from trestle 697 ft long running from shore through surf, are 24 ft long, have inside diameter of 10 ft and weigh 67 tons; trestle consists of three-legged bents spaced every 15 ft; narrow side is used as roadway for concrete and gravel trucks, while wide side carries big traveling crane.
