Method of pushing heavy concrete pipe totaling over 1/2 mi in length into place at street crossings, in Des Moines, Iowa industrial and railroad area is described; hydraulic pump was set up to operate paired jacks for pushing line of pipe underneath street; some 2100 ft of 84 in. concrete pipe, plus smaller lengths of 64 in. and large oval pipe, were installed by this method.
