Ultrasonic measurement of elastic constants of rocks under high pressures
Ultrasonic determinations of elastic constants of various rocks under pressures up to 10 kbar were made; measurement includes both P and S wave velocity determinations; accuracies in P and S wave velocity measurements are 1 and 2% respectively; variation of elastic constants as function of pressure together with data of modal analysis is reported; relation between P wave velocity, density, effect of serpentinization and also Poisson's ratio of various kinds of rocks.
