Fighting factory fires with ventilation
Principles, as well as brief history of fire ventilation, are described; factors contributing to rapid fire spread such as smoke, heat and unburned gas are reviewed; need for fire compartments and fire vents is pointed out; action of fire ventilation is explained; use of automatic ventilating systems with sprinkler systems permits, in some cases, elimination of costly fire walls.
