Drydocks with independent, pile-anchored soles
Measurements of lifts and settlements performed on two drydocks, 260 m and 285 m long, respectively, with soles constructed as thin, very elastic reinforced concrete plates rigidly joined to Franki foundation piles, and connected with sides by elastic, reinforced-concrete seals; measurements made during construction on single piles and pile groups by applying alternating traction-compression loads; after completion, sole deformations were determined under alternate flooding and pumping out of dock. (n 9 Sept 1964 p 289-301, n 10 Oct p 351-6)
