Finite element solution for axisymmetrical shells
Comprehensive method of analysis of axisymmetrical thin elastic shells of revolution based on finite element approach is presented; basic finite element, by which any axisymmetrical shell may be approximated, is truncated conical ring; in limiting case, this element is replaced by short cylinder; at ends of shell, shallow spherical caps are used; procedures are stated in matrix algebra and, in principle, are based on "displacement method" of analysis.
