Concrete cutoff wall for earth dam in Greece
Features of 164 ft high Peneos Dam built on 56-ft depth of alluvial deposit over impervious marl; cutoff through underlying pervious materials was achieved by building concrete wall for full depth for length of 4123 ft; trench 2 ft wide was excavated in alternate 20-ft long panels and kept open by bentonite slurry until tremie concrete could be placed under patented Rodio process; wall is reinforced with bars preassembled and welded into cage and lowered through slurry; piezometer readings have shown wall to be watertight.
