Montrose School is located in low income section of Laredo, Tex, populated by immigrants from Mexico; design objectives of functional school that would overcome faults of local environment, climatic and social; school is divided into 4 separate one-story buildings, arranged so that each classroom has direct access to shaded teaching space and play area; approach used involved study of daylighting for each classroom and outdoor canopy through use of scale models and Texas Eng Experiment Station's simulated skydome; tests conducted and results obtained.
