Paper discusses some of problems of construction; drydock is 1180 ft long, 198 ft wide, and 61 ft deep and structurally it is relieved dock; relief is secured by permanent sheet pile cut-off enclosure around dam; construction of relieved bottom slab, walls, and drainage and service tunnels; four 54-in. diam pumps with capacity of 114,000 gpm and 1500 hp motors empty dock in 4 hr; flooding happens by culvert equipped with sluice gates; dock is closed by movable caisson.
