Hydraulic model studies for Ord river diversion dam
Dam now under construction in Western Australia, includes largest gate-controlled spillway ever undertaken in Australia; hydraulic model studies carried out to assist in complex design problems are described; particular difficulties were shallow curved river entry, high velocity of approach, high submergence ratio at full flood and large quantities of floating debris; discharge coefficients were determined for complete range of gate openings, for free flow under various conditions and for partially submerged flow.
