Bamboo-concrete composite construction
New method devised at Indian Central Bldg Research Inst, uses bamboo as external reinforcement; load transfer from concrete to bamboo takes place through shear connectors; object of experiments reported was to compare relative efficiency of 7 different designs of connectors; slabs incorporating them were tested to destruction; results show that integral connectors formed by cutting notches in bamboo at intervals are most efficient.
