A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
First section of lecture dealt with research on steel and concrete, particularly properties and problems in prestressing steel; second section considered research on prestressed concrete as finished product, and substantial portion given pertains to effects of fire, impact and fatigue, ultimate strength, torsion and bending, end blocks, bridge decks, grouting, relaxation of structures, shear, composite construction, and use of prestressed concrete as nuclear reactor container; section on practice is represented by photographs. From paper before Instn Civ Engrs, July 3 1962.
