Experimental investigation of end stiffening of bowstring or vierendeel type bridge girder
Tests were carried out in Univ of Liege Laboratories in order to develop better method of designing parts of main bridge girders by applying rational system of stiffening; results of tests on unstiffened and on stiffened girder end junctions; tests on unstiffened specimens show favorable effect of residual stresses due to welding and rolling, on buckling behavior of web having slenderness ratio of approximately 60.
