Continuity of prestressed concrete girders under ultimate load conditions
Discussion of possibilities of accident-proof continuity connection of precast/prestressed concrete beams, with reference to erection of storage and warehouse for automotive parts distribution center in New England; basic considerations that went into design of connection are outlined; it is shown how precast concrete structural system using individual parts and beams designed for simple spans, can obtain additional advantages of continuous system under ultimate conditions.
