Equilibrium characteristics of sand beaches in offshore zone
Investigation reported was designed to test applicability of existing idealized theories to prediction of equilibrium characteristics of laboratory sand beaches; 2 different sediment motion equilibrium criteria considered are incipient motion and established motion; results indicate existing theories to provide good quantitative predictions of seaward limit of profile modification, whether given beach will build or erode under action of given incident wave; quantitative prediction of profile shape is good only near offshore extreme of profile modification.
