Theoretical analysis of splitting test for asphalt specimens
Splitting test used in determining strength of concrete specimens is applied to asphalt paving mixtures; theory is proposed for failure mechanism; satisfactory agreement obtained between theory and laboratory experiments; possibility of utilizing theoretical equations in determining relationships between failure stress and height of specimen, as well as anisotropic cohesion from perpendicular and parallel splitting tests.
