Structure and mechanical properties of low-alloy titanium
Adverse effect of slow cooling from β-phase on mechanical properties of titanium alloyed with small amounts of β-stabilizers is explained by appearance of lamellar second-phase precipitates in coarse-grained alloy structure; this increases nonuniformity of plastic deformation and causes formation of microcracks. (see also English translation in Metal Science and Heat Treatment n 1-2 Jan-Feb 1963 p 81-6)
