Determination of toughness of hardened steels by impact and static bend tests on round specimens
After discussion of difficulties in defining and determining "toughness", results obtained with hardened 1C-1.5Cr-0.35Mn steel in bend tests on specimens 100 mm long and 17 mm in diam are presented as plastic deformation and bending stress vs tempering temperature and supplemented by hardness determinations and micrographs.
