Effect of stabilizing anneal on tendency of stabilized austenitic Cr-Ni steels for intercrystalline corrosion
Tests were performed on low-C 17Cr-10Ni-Cb, 17Cr-11Ni-Ti, and unstabilized 18Cr-9Ni steel; all were tested after stabilizing at 850-950 C, with and without preliminary sensitizing treatment, and subsequent holding at 650 C; Cb and Ti stabilized steels were stable under all conditions; plain Cr-Ni steel lost its stability by final 650 C treatment.
