Effect of strain-rate upon undrained shear resistance of saturated remoulded fat clay
Normally consolidated specimens were tested in triaxial compression using 2 strain-rates, 1% strain in 1 min and 1% strain in 500 min; in some tests, rate-of-strain was changed during shear; pore pressures were measured at center of specimen, and possible effects of internal moisture migration were studied; peak shear resistance increased about 10% in passing from slow to fast strain-rate; at small strains, resistance increased as much as 100%.
