Consolidation of peat -- Field and laboratory measurements
Study of engineering properties of peat, which as organic constituent of muskeg, has important bearing on feasibility and cost of construction of electric transmission towers, access roads and earth dams; consolidation of fibrous peat is shown to occur in 2 separate stages; results of laboratory tests can be used to predict rate and magnitude of field consolidation with reasonable accuracy.
