Thomas Mall Shopping Center in Phoenix, Ariz, features air-conditioning apparatus and electrical bus on roof to save cubage in stores proper and in air-conditioned mall and permit sizing and placement of air-conditioning equipment long after structure had been designed; 22-ft-high section of main mall, which has exposed precast concrete double T's for roof structure, is indirectly lighted by high output fluorescent fixtures set inside clerestories and concealed by planting.
