Combined effect of work roll diameter and width of strip being rolled on distribution of pressure between rolls and deflection of rolls in 4-high rolling mills; for every ratio of diameters (rigidity) of working and supporting rolls in 4-high stand, there is definite optimum strip width at which inter-roll pressure is distributed uniformly over length of contact zone, resulting in minimum deflection of work roll; mathematical analysis of problem is illustrated by 6 equations and numerous graphs.
