Direct-shear test for effective-strength parameters
Effective-stress results from tests performed on one undisturbed and 2 remodeled clays are compared with those from slow-drained direct shear tests; effective-strength parameters determined by tests performed on undisturbed clay from Seven Sisters project, in Canada, are compared with those from triaxial tests; effect of speed of shear as related to effective strengths is determined and presented for 4 clays.
