Analysis of dynamic deflexions of soils and pavements
Deflections of soils and roads under sustained vibration conditions were observed; resistance to deformation is expressed in dynamic stiffness; this latter consists of elastic part, which is considered independent of frequency, and part which depends on frequency; magnitude of elastic stiffness, damping and mass discussed, with special attention to linearity of system and to fact that mass effect decreases at relatively high frequencies; under shock type of loading by traffic, mass effects are found to be less important than under conditions of sustained vibrations.
