Study to provide information for design of structures supported on large-diameter vertical cylinders that are to be exposed to shallow-water wave action; laboratory data collected to determine pressure intensities on surface of vertical cylinder subjected to action of smooth waves and breaking waves of spilling type; results are presented through dimensionless parameters that include pertinent physical quantities.
