In cooperation with Am Iron and Steel Inst and U S Corps of Engrs, U S Bur Standards has undertaken project to investigate extent of corrosion on steel piles after many years of service; no appreciable corrosion was found in undisturbed soil below water table; above water table and in fill soils corrosion was found to be variable but not serious.
