Tests on column strength of round bars to study effect of size, residual stress, and unavoidable initial crookedness; results of 4 experiments on axially loaded, solid, round bars of 7 1/2 in. diam and of approximately 19 ft length; 2 of bars were of "T-1" constructional alloy steel and 2 were of AISI C-1020 structural carbon steel.
