Beach-damage caused by hurricane at Long Beach near South Port, NC, has been corrected by placing hydraulic fill to close inlet 2000 ft wide and about 10 to 12 ft deep; dike containing 650,000 cu yd of material was constructed using dredge with Skinner Uniflo 2000-hp power plant; hydraulic fill prevented scouring of fill material; special spreader used.
