Buckling of cylinders of sandwich construction in axial compression
Theoretical analysis for behavior of long, circular, cylindrical shells under axial compressive load is designed to evaluate effects of relatively low shearing moduli of sandwich cores on buckling stresses; curves presented for use in designing shells of sandwich construction having isotropic facings and orthotropic or isotropic cores; results compared with those obtained from tests on series of curved panels.
