Development of "Hydrox" for underground loading
"Hydrox" device, suitable for underground charging developed; new charge and initiator are safe when fired in methane/air mixtures and coal dust, either within or outside steel shell; composite charge is in form of prepacked cartridge and shear plug, and has been made integral part of cartridge; discharge head is semi-permanent in shell and, for charging, only firing head has to be removed. (See also - discussion p 430-4; S Wales Inst Engrs -- Proc v 73 n 1 Mar 1958 p 53-63 (discussion) 64-8)
