Montana highway link will halve 250 bridgeless miles of Missouri River, cutting distance from Billings to Malta from 542 to 208 mi; four continuous steel girder spans with lengths of 144, 180, 180 and 144 ft placed on concrete piers; in northern pier 70 untreated timber piles used with estimated length of 25 ft; aggregate was partly produced from river bank and partly trucked in from distance of 68 mi.
