Two prestressed concrete beams, identical with those made for Mandal Bridge in Norway, were tested to failure; elastic and plastic deformations of concrete and shrinkage were observed; load at first cracking agreed with computed value, and strains measured in beams agreed well with computed value, and strains measured in beams agreed well with computed stresses; load at failure corresponded with load computed on basis of so-called "simplified theory".
