A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Measurements of soil suction are presented and related to partial freezing phenomenon of kaolinitic clay, medium feldspar quartz clay, and silt soil types; over range of temperatures from 0 to -16C, it was shown that quantity of water remaining unfrozen may be related directly to soil suction parameter; simplified pressure-membrane technique for soil suction measurements is presented which would allow for routine soil suction determinations.
