Modification of AASHO road test serviceability index formula
Hand-operated device for measuring coarseness of texture was developed, and term for textural roughness was added to AASHO Road Test formula for serviceability index; coefficient of new term was evaluated by analysis of subjective ratings given 43 flexible pavements by 12man panel of Texas highway engineers; new formula for service-ability index predicted adjusted ratings with satisfactory accuracy.
