Extension of rigid pavement design methods
Certain developments in AASHO Interim Pavement Design Guide are verified and extended; choice of mathematical models is made based on studies of AASHO and Maryland Road Tests' stress data as well as data from in-service pavements; design thickness equation is expanded to include concrete modulus of elasticity, total traffic, and pavement continuity; nomograph is presented for quick solution to expanded equation; new design chart is presented for design of reinforcing steel in jointed reinforced pavements; nomograph for solving bar spacing and bar size is included.
