Temperature variations in cement concrete pavement and underlying subgrade
Results of temperature observations carried out for more than 2 yr on 6-in. thick portland cement concrete slab at Kharagpur, India are presented; temperature studies were also made on water bound macadam base and natural subgrade beneath slab; observed time-temperature variations are compared with existing theories of temperature distribution in concrete slab; empirical equation to estimate amplitude of surface temperature variation in 6-in. slab is derived.
