Cracking of asphalt pavements due to thermal contraction
Factors that contribute to, or control thermal cracking of asphaltic concrete were investigated and pattern of crack survey correlated with laboratory results; investigation comprised phases of determination of coefficient of thermal contraction of asphaltic concrete, stress-strain characteristics, temperature at which thermal cracking is most likely to occur, and crack survey of existing pavement.
