Lifetime of static contacts
For static contacts it is necessary that contact condition remain stable for prolonged period; however, for copper static contacts, it has been observed that temperature cycling in air produces cuprous oxide film on contacts and because of this oxide film, contact resistance can increase to above 1000 ohms; in this investigation, this type of contact deterioration is studied, and relation between contact shape and its lifetime is established.
