Dredge "Cleveland". World's first convertible clamshell-dipper
Conversion was made by replacing dipper front with 90 ft lattice boom with 20 ft insert; shovel drum was converted to holding line drum; closing drum, tagline drum, and independent boom-hoist were added; original port-side operating cab was retained, and raised starboard-side cab was added; it took about eight weeks to rebuild from dipper dredge to clamshell dredge; it is estimated that change from clamshell to dipper dredge will take about three days.
